An international organization may submit a proposal but must have an identified local partner or the development of a local NGO as part of the proposal.
Yes, any organization applying for GGI funding needs to have a bank account. The account should be in the name of the organization applying for funding.
No, GGI will not provide ‘in-kind’ contributions. GGI disburses funds to approved capacity-building programs through the bank accounts of organizations executing approved projects.
GGI does not fund individually led projects. However, we welcome proposals from legally-registered organized groups, multi-national organizations, non-governmental organizations, and not-for-profit companies that can implement developmental projects and programs in keeping with our mandate.
Proposals can be submitted year-round. Submissions can take two to eight weeks for a formal response and should be submitted before the proposed need date. If projects have a “need-by” date this should be noted and submissions should be sent well in advance of the need-by date. Note that GGI does not provide event or conference sponsorship.
Review of applications can take two to eight weeks. Reviewers will consider the project’s proposed start date and respond accordingly.
Projects can range from 6-24 months. GGI advises that proposals avoid multi-year projects but will review on a case-by-case basis.
All proposals should be written in English.
The GGI is interested in proposals for projects from all regions of Guyana. We are delighted to support projects and organizations that benefit minority groups and vulnerable populations.
Groups may also consider submitting community development proposals that fall within or outside of the scope of GGI to ExxonMobil Guyana Limited’s Community Relations team.
GGI does not provide funding to individuals or to finance businesses. To support local business capacity and growth, GGI launched and funded the Centre for Local Business Development (the “Centre”). For business capacity development, we recommend registering with the Centre and signing up to be a part of training sessions that may help you to support your business needs.
GGI’s focus areas include education and training, economic development, and health, with emphasis on capacity building in these areas. GGI does not provide support for standalone infrastructure or provide funding to individuals or private enterprises. There is no fee attached to applying for GGI funding. Additionally, there is no third-party contractor that is authorized to provide application or registration services on behalf of GGI. Only engage this program by visiting the official website or contacting us via email for additional queries.
An organization may submit more than one proposal. All proposals will go through the standard review process.
The primary applicant should be registered in Guyana, should exist as a legal entity and must be able to provide supporting documentation if the proposal is progressed. GGI will also consider on a case-by-case basis proposals by partners working with locally registered entities.

GGI does not provide event or conference sponsorship, though we may consider proposals for events or workshops that are aimed at building capacity or other related GGI objectives. GGI does not pay a finder’s fee or proposal preparation. Proposals may include costs for project plan development and other similar activities within the submission, but standalone fees or compensation related to proposals are not provided by GGI.
