Project Name: Enhancing Community Wellness ‘Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well’

Partner: Roraima Learning Trust (RLT)

GGI Priority Area: Economic Development

Target Beneficiaries: 100–150 participants from the East Coast Demerara – between the communities/villages of Plaisance to Enmore being served by the Lusignan Clinic

Region: 4

Duration: 6 Months 

Purpose: Addressing principal public health scourges (diabetes, hypertension etcetera) by crafting culturally appropriate messages and delivering them coordinately across multiple traditional and social media platforms. This will aid participants in adopting healthier lifestyles regarding what they eat, increase their propensity to move more and pay closer attention to how they feel.

Outputs: 

Since its implementation in February 2024, the Enhancing Community Wellness ‘Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well’ Project has sought to: 

  1. Improve Quality of Life scores.

Anticipated Impacts:

  1.  Improvements in physical and psychological health.  
  2. Increasingly healthier population.
  3.  Lower disease burdens. Lower fixed and recurrent public health budgets. 
  4. Better longevity and productivity. 
  5. Reduced mortality due to chronic illnesses.
