Target Beneficiaries: Students, Teachers and Visitors of West Demerara Secondary School

Duration: 8 Months

Purpose: To provide a clean and refreshing source of hydration for students, teachers, and visitors of West Demerara Secondary School, thereby decreasing the reliance on single-use plastic bottles, promoting environmental sustainability and reducing plastic waste. 

Outputs: 

Since its implementation, the Water Purification and Sustainability Initiative has sought to: 

1. Decrease reliance on single-use plastic bottles and contribute to environmental sustainability. 
2.  Access to clean and safe drinking water for the health and well-being of the school community. 
3. Bring awareness about environmental sustainability and encourage eco-friendly practices among students.

Anticipated Impacts: 

1. Enhanced awareness and adoption of sustainable practices among students.
2. Strengthened collaboration between the school and the local community in environmental conservation efforts.
3. Reduce the use of plastic bottle waste.
