Purpose: To reduce the prevalence of HPV-related diseases in Guyana’s Indigenous and under-resourced communities through education and screening.
Outputs:
Since its implementation in February 2024, the HPV Education and Screening for Indigenous and Under-Resourced Populations in Guyana has sought to:
- Increase awareness and accessibility to HPV testing.
- Assist community health workers and educators in gaining essential skills and knowledge, enabling them to educate others and conduct screenings independently.
- Equip young leaders to educate their peers and community members, fostering a culture of health awareness and proactive healthcare.
- Increase awareness and understanding of HPV and cervical cancer within the community.
- Enhance stakeholder collaboration to provide comprehensive and culturally sensitive healthcare services.
Anticipated Impacts:
- Increased awareness and knowledge about HPV and cervical cancer.
- Improved screening rates among women in targeted communities.
- Youth empowerment through education and involvement in health advocacy.
