Purpose: This project aims to enhance the sustainability of communities in region 1 – Barima Waini – particularly Imbotero and Smith Creek. It provides renewable energy sources needed to sustain people’s livelihoods, while improving environmental conditions by helping residents reduce land degradation and conserve natural resources, thus making both communities resilient to the impacts of climate change.
Outputs:
Since its implementation in December 2023, the Sustainability Enablers Project has sought to:
- Procure 200 solar food cookers.
- Procure and install 200 solar lights.
- Procure 200 water tanks.
- Develop materials to support environmental education and awareness.
Anticipated Impacts:
- Improve socioeconomic conditions of the residents of Imbotero and Smith Creek.
- Improved access to potable drinking water.
- Enhanced awareness of biodiversity challenge and the community’s role in preserving same.
