On March 3, 2023, the Greater Guyana Initiative (GGI)-funded Berbice Multi-Purpose Facility (MPF) project was officially launched with a ceremony to mark the commencement of construction. The GGI is providing GY$3.7 billion towards the project, which will provide opportunities for residents in the county. The GGI is a US$100 million project funded by Stabroek Block co-venturers ExxonMobil Guyana Limited, Hess Guyana Exploration Limited and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited that targets capacity development in Guyana.
